A Week's Worth of Wonder

So much fun being a GREAT-GREAT aunt!

I keep telling the children "great-great" means I am beyond wonderful!!

Maybe you remember that last year around this time I was making rosary beads as Christmas gifts (here). Well, my granddaughter had a class assignment of creating a set of rosary beads using whatever she chose to use. She made this awesome set using seashells she found on a beach in
South Carolina. How cool are they!?

Yesterday my sister turned 70; we celebrated last weekend when all her family could be together. Happy birthday, Sara!

Chilly Enough for Versailles

The wedding was wonderful and it was the perfect day for a shawl.....

Bigger is Not Always Better!

I told you it was a large shawl!  I had to fold it in half to be able to fit it on my board to block the sides!  It is a gorgeous day today, so it is doubtful I will need a shawl, however I will take it along so if it should be chilly tonight, I will have it for the ride home. I told my daughter I will drape it on the back of my chair at the reception. Her reply was, "Your chair will look gorgeous!"  I'll try to get a picture of me wearing it just to show you here.

Sneak Peek at Versailles

The shawl is on my blocking board, however it is too large to fit the entire piece on the board! I have the majority of it pinned, but I will have to try to block the sides once this part is dry. So, I am not sure it will be worn on Saturday.  Perhaps with a little help from my blow dry tomorrow it might happen.  Pretty though, don't you think?!

Better pictures, hopefully, when I am wearing it!

Versalilles Progress

Although I have had to start and restart this (Versalilles) shawl three times, I am happy with the progress I am finally making.

I originally started with a light weight lace yarn, but was not happy with the stitch tension, so after a few attempts I decided to try fingering yarn and I am much happier with the results. I hope once it is blocked that it will be lacy enough to suit me.  The wedding is one week from today, so I am not sure it will be completed by then, but I will give it my best shot. If it's not off my needles by then I have other shawls I can wear, and will just keep knitting until this piece is complete.

I am psyched for my next project!  Stay tuned.
